ORIGAMI with Makers Project “ORIGAMI and Beppu Bamboo Crafts” presents the ORIGAMI Online Store exclusive Dripper Holder [Rinko Weave].
This dripper holder is crafted using “Rinko Weaving,” one of the traditional techniques of bamboo craft.
The name “Rinko” (meaning “ring arc”) is said to derive from the method of weaving by layering rings.
Rinko weaving is a technique within bamboo craftwork that uniquely combines three-dimensionality with lightness. Its defining feature is achieving both strength and beauty through layered rings. The large, open weave creates a translucent quality, producing contrasts of light and shadow that lend a refreshingly cool impression characteristic of bamboo craft. When brewing coffee, the weave of this dripper holder creates airflow between the dripper and server or cup, altering the extraction time.
The new bamboo craftwork has a pale beige color, but over time, exposure to light and air will cause it to change to amber or deep brown. With use, it gains luster, deepens in texture, and becomes a tool uniquely yours.
Inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship, yet featuring modern hues that naturally harmonize with contemporary living.

After use, wash immediately with a neutral detergent and wipe thoroughly dry.
Avoid soaking for extended periods and allow to dry completely in a well-ventilated area.
Using dishwashers or dryers, or rapid drying in direct sunlight, may cause warping or cracking.
If stains or odors are a concern, lightly washing with a baking soda solution is effective.
If the surface dries out and appears whitish, applying a thin layer of food-grade vegetable oil will restore its shine.

Oita Prefecture is one of Japan's leading bamboo-producing regions, particularly renowned for the high quality of its Madake bamboo. The Beppu area, blessed with a warm, humid climate and abundant rainfall, fosters thriving bamboo groves, providing a rich supply of high-quality bamboo resources. Furthermore, Japan has long practiced hot spring therapy, known as “tōji.” Beppu Onsen has welcomed numerous tōji guests from across the nation. During the Edo period, the culture of yu-ji, where commoners stayed long-term to heal their bodies, became widely established. The combination of Beppu's hot springs and bamboo-rich environment, along with its cultural and industrial background, led to bamboo crafts being used for tools supporting the yu-ji lifestyle, such as bath buckets and bath baskets.
